18th UKPF Early Careers Meeting
The next UKPF meeting will take place on the 13th January at the University of Oxford
![]() The purpose of the meeting is to network and showcase the research going on in universities up and down the country. This meeting gives early career researchers a chance to present talks or posters to a scientific audience in an open and friendly conference environment to help prepare for international conferences and other occasions.

The meeting venue is the Martin Wood lecture theatre in the Clarendon Laboratory. You can find a searchable map of the Oxford Campus here. Venue address: Martin Wood Complex
Clarendon Laboratory Department Of Physics Parks Road (next to University Parks) Oxford OX1 3PU We recommend travelling by foot or bike once in Oxford city centre. There are buses that run through the city as needed. The Clarendon labs are about a 25 minute walk from the train station, through the scenic Oxford city centre. Oxford is an hour train ride from London, with services from Padington and Marylebone stations.

For Presenters:
Talks will be 7 minutes long and each session will finish with a 10 minute Q&A panel consisting of 3-5 of the previous speakers. Lightning talks will be 2 minutes long each. Posters are preferred in size A0 portrait (but it may be possible to accommodate to a range of sizes smaller than A0). Lunch will be provided during the poster session. Travel Grants
With generous support from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), we are pleased to offer travel grants for students attending the ECM. These grants have prioritised students travelling from within the UK. The deadline for applying for a travel grant has now passed and grants have been allocated. If you have been allocated a travel grant, please email the receipts to [email protected] after the conference.. The grants can cover:
Children are welcome at the conference, and a separate room with a live stream of the talks will be available for use by attendees with small children. If you plan to bring children, please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected]. Please bear in mind that this is a one-day conference, so accommodation will only be funded if your circumstances require it. |

The closest train station is Oxford rail station, which is ~20 minute walk to the venue. By coach The venue is ~15 minute walk from Oxford bus station. By car Parking is limited in the venue vicinity, and it is advisable to use one of the 5 Park and Ride locations (purple P on the map) to get to the city centre if travelling by car.
